Tim Poe says he is sorry for submitting a photo of another solider to producers of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT.
On Thursday, the image used in a video montage prior to Poe’s performance was identified to be that of Army Staff Sgt, Norman Bone. It apparently originated on the Department of Defense’s website.
“I must have sent the wrong picture from my hard drive to AGT,” he told The New York Post today.
“I was trying to hurry and get the picture to them that I did not take the time to really make sure. I apologize.”
AGT producers “kept pushing me and pushing me saying ‘You need to put these out. You need to put these out,’ ” Poe said.
The aspiring singer says he was confused looking at thumbnails of pictures on his hard drive. He also tole the paper that ”I had deleted a lot of photographs because I wanted nothing to remind me of things that had happened to the past.”
To prove that he really did serve, Poe shared a photo of himself in the line of duty.
A spokesperson for the show issued this statement today: “We sincerely apologize to US Army Staff Sgt. Norman Bone for using a photo of him in our story on Tim Poe. It was supplied to us by Tim and used on the show in good faith. It has now been removed and will not be used again.”
