After a performance show that started with an Albert Einstein painting and ended with dogs in tuxedos, America must now decide whom to crown as the champion of Season 7.
Clearly, based on the performances from each of the six finalists on Wednesday night – and the judges’ commentary following each act – only three of them stood out from the rest of the pack and placed themselves in serious contention for the top prize: Tom Cotter, William Close, and Olate Dogs. In fact, after the canine entertainers capped off the show with their routine, Howard Stern made the following comments:
“In my mind now, I’m going back and forth between a comedian, a guy on an earth harp, and you guys,” Stern said. “It’s gonna be interesting to see who wins.”
Close received nothing but kind words from the judging panel as well, as Sharon Osbourne referred to the earth harpist as a “visionary” and compared his act to a Cirque du Soleil show. And despite what appeared as a relatively dry night from Cotter, Howie Mandel nonetheless stated that the comedian had “just scratched and clawed [his] way to the top” after his Finals performance.
Regardless of the finale results, the other three finalists this season – David Garibaldi and His CMYK’s, The Untouchables, and Joe Castillo – also deserve an honorable mention, and each appear to have very bright futures ahead of them as well.
The Season 7 Winner will be announced on the 2-hour results show this Thursday at 8pm/7 central, which will include special guest performances from Justin Bieber, Joan Rivers, Flo Rida, Ne-Yo, and Blue Man Group.
Who do you think gave the best finale performance. Let’s discuss in the comments below.
