Singer. Dancer. Actor. Host of “America’s Got Talent.”
Nick Cannon has come a long way since his days as a stand up comic and “Soul Train” dancer.
A native of San Diego, Nick began performing at the age of 8 and got his big break in 1998 on the teen sketch comedy show “All That.” He later created, starred in and executive produced “The Nick Cannon Show” for Nickelodeon.
Nick was introduced to television at a young age. Growing up, his father James hosted a public access TV ministry in Charlotte, North Carolina. By the time he was in sixth grade, Nick was trying out his stand up comedy on the show. And he never looked back.
After moving to Hollywood as a teen, Nick became a regular at famed spots like The Improv, The Laugh Factory and The Comedy Store. In between gigs, he formed the rap duo Da Bomb Squad with his best friend Steve Groves. Together they opened for acts like Will Smith, LFO and 98 Degrees.
After becoming a bona-fide movie star in films like “Drumline” and “Love Don’t Cost A Thing”, started his own sketch comedy show, “Wild ‘n Out”, which ran for four seasons on MTV.
He currently hosts a morning radio program on New York’s WXRK and recently launch the syndicated “Cannon’s Countdown” on CBS stations nationwide.
On April 30, Nick and wife Mariah Carey welcomed twins – a boy and a girl.
