Disgraced soldier Timothy Michael Poe should be allowed to remain on AMERICA’S GOT TALENT — and have his fate decided by the viewers whose trust he violated, says judge Howard Stern.
Speaking on his Sirius XM radio show Monday, Stern said he planned to personally appeal to producers not to cut the (allegedly) fibbing country singer out of the upcoming Vegas Week shows, which air June 25-27.
“I hope that they show what happens in Vegas,” Stern said. ”If he doesn’t make it, show that reality, and if he makes it through Vegas, let America vote about him.”
(The Vegas Week shows were pre-taped at the Palazzo Resort in Las Vegas in May. Producers have not commented publicly about Poe’s fate.)
While the freshman judge says he finds the whole situation “disgusting,” he adds: ”I always kind of resented AMERICAN IDOL when they would pull someone out because of a drug scandal or an arrest. Let the audience decide on talent.”
