It wasn’t pretty, but this year’s crap-tacular YouTube week is officially behind us.
Wednesday night the four acts that America hated the least each received tickets to the semi-finals, which start in two weeks.
To be fair, we may have discovered one diamond in the rough: Academy of Villains look like a lock for the Top 10 after a simply amazing acrobatic hip-hop routine that included samples from Queen‘s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” If you haven’t checked it out, please do. Like now.
The other three survivors, were okay, but mostly forgettable: teen cutie singer Bria Kelly, The Magic of Puck, and bird act Clint Carvalho & His Extreme Parrots.
Olympic gold medal winner Gabby Douglas stopped by for much of the hour, and helped Nick Cannon introduce internet comic Randall. Wait….who?
Luckily, it turned out she had never heard of him either. Gotta love live television!
It seemed almost unfair to bring the YouTube snoozers out on stage after the studio audience erupted into chants of “U.S.A., U.S.A” at Gabby’s introduction. But, hey, that’s show business.
AGT returns next Tuesday with its annual Wild Card show.
